salt water mouth wash

Absolutely this.

Many mouth/throat infections can be treated with water as hot and salty as you can manage!

<edit>: this won't work for abcesses at all but will nuke ulcers and sore throats.

Glad to here it Logrover! mine has gone quiet but I've still got a lump on my gum. Bought Rinstead pastilles and they seem to be making the bump smaller:001_smile:

hi im steves GF.(Dental nurse) sounds like you have an abscess and that white lump may be what they call a sinus. if there is anabscess at the root of the tooth a sinus forms to release the gasses and pressure. thats probably why you have no pain cos there is no pressure building up inside its leaking. im not a dentist ofcourse and its hard to tell without looking but this is my guess. did you have root canal?

Hi! no just a filling and it didnt feel right for about 4 weeks then the real pain started I put up with it until I could get back to the dentist, he took an x ray and then hit it with something and I thought it was going to shatter. His conclusion was that the nerve was sensitive and it could be like it for a few month until it settles down. Im now waiting for another dentist that was recomended to make space for me to get on his books. Thank you for your concern  Sorry for the spelling mistakes Sell check is out with her friend tonight

Salt water makes me retch but I've taken to rinsing with Listerine total care mouthwash (the fetchingly-coloured pinky purple one) and highly recommend it - it's got antibacterials and I think there are salicylates (i.e. chemical the same group as aspirin) in there too.

It's helped me out with nagging aches and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Glad to hear you got the abcess sorted mate; I had one years back (under a troublesome wisdom tooth) and it was murder. Had some antibiotics to get rid of the infection and then had three wisdom teeth out under general anaesthetic.

Until i tried to get a dentist i did nt realise what such a shocking state the nhs is in.......im on a list but looks like itl be years till i finally get one and private ones are flat out and charge what they want!! bad times....but im glad i dont live in primative times or id no doubt have died in great agony!!:laugh1:

All i want it to be well to get the landy through the mot friday and i cant get motivated as i feel so crap and for some reason its all giving me great pain in my left arm in the joint...no its not a heart attack so everything is hard to do......roll on well times!!

  • 9 months later...

well the lump has been there now for 10 months and I aint been feeling tip top for a while so booked in to have it pulled, the dentist tried to convince me to have root canal but I stuck to my guns and had it pulled :help:.

It took her half an hour becuase the root was hooked but it came out in the end and she then discoverd that the infection had eaten into my jaw bone :001_rolleyes: guess I was right to have it pulled but not looking forward to the anasthetic to wear off as the socket was dry and she had to screw around with my jaw bone to get it to bleed.

If you cant sleep tonight then log in to chat as ill probable be awake and online :laugh1:
