Disco 3 whats it like in the snow

Nope our is manual. But its the Rights of Way Head for the area where we are based. It has been fully kitted out by a local land rover specialist. It has all the mod cons snorkel, sump/steering guard,etc. And the spare wheel is in the boot rather than underneath.

any vehicle in the snow & ice is only as good as the person driving it, nothing is infallible.... not even a landrover!!!!

D3 must be pants cos I have winched 2 out of ditches in the last 2 weeks.

 

Or..........., it could be that it’s a perfectly good car and the muppets in control of them made a mess or it?

Disco 3 is awesome in snow, and is much better off rd than my defender or rangers.

Even my tractor get stuck in mud pulling trailers

 

In the snow any 4x4 is good with the right tyres, the traction control system on landrovers or any other motor fitted with it (landcruiser) gives them a bit of an edge,

 

I watched a new defender fitted with Traction control, sit there with all four wheel turning on an icy slope.

 

All 4x4's have a limit

 

Its a combination of driver, tyres and how the vehicle controls power to the wheels

My mate pulled a Range Rover out of a ditch last year where it had skidded on sheet ice and gone off the road.

 

The irate woman driver told him she was going to sue Range Rover because she had pressed some fancy 'snow and ice' setting, and it hadn't worked.

 

He gave up trying to tell her that it wouldn't allow her to drive as normal down a steep hill that was covered in smooth ice. Or that that it wouldn't allow her to do 50 in a 30 limit!

I have a d2 van and had to get the parts for manual diff lock and switch traction control off when pulling 2 tonne of trailer up wet grass. We had a D3 on loan which got stuck everywhere with a trailer. When we unhitched the trailer it would not drive itself out so had to tow. The D3 is a great vehicle just not for extreme trailer towing. I will see if I can find some pics of some mad jobs

you CAN switch it all OFF on a D3,, there is a little button on the dash,,, turns the whole lot off,,,

 

am reckoning as it was a loaner you werent used to the car and the "quirks"

 

 

i'd probably get stuck in a defender as i'm not used to them,, but am more than happy with the D3 and my trailer in most situations

 

as said above,, driver/ tyres etc...
