when I needed a splitting maul I found they were either expensive or cheap... so I got the cheapest axe/maul I could get, £15 from screwfix... never had a problem with it, and it's still good three years later.

I've only ever used a splitting maul & it does the job. perhaps i'd think difft if i ever got round to using a fancy axe.

I can lift a knife n fork when I'm in the cafe and that's all I need to do cos I leave the wife at the yard and tell her to call me when she's loaded the truck.

i found the best price for the gransfors splitting maul was with greenwood direct had free delivery when i got mine a few weeks ago

 

out of stock until mid-jan 2011

thats the best price i found also!

they seem to be selling like hotcakes at the mo,many sellers out of stock:elefant:

i've used these hydraulic splitters and whilst they seem good to start with

they don't split as well- more tearing. Plus toooo slooooowwwwww

there's also a lot of lifting up to do.

Not my choice at all- sold mine in the end
