be careful with the tramadol.... my brother is in a real mess after becoming addicted to these following a prescription for a back injury.... he realised what was happening and tried to wean himself off them, but all is not going well.... little support from the doc as "they are not addictive", following a change of doc, he is now back on course!

Thanks for the heads up, I know how your brother feels I've been on several painkillers for the last 6mths or so and these only seem to be the ones that do anything. I think your body builds up a tolerance to them. Waiting for another op on shoulder this time, so i'll be on them proberly the rest of the year.

Yea those are the buggers.

I'll be very interested to see how it goes, as those are the two discs that I smashed. Did the lidocaine/cortizone shots last year and dropped 2 stone and so far so good. But, I'm just waiting for a 'flare up'. All the best with the surgery mate. I'll certainly listen to any words of wisdom you may have post op. Are you 6' plus? L4 and L5 seem to take a major beating when you're tall!

Thanks for all your support.

I have decided to put off my operation till after all the shows in September. This is down to the fact that with 4 weeks of shows to deal with i would not be in the right frame of mind to be away from work.

So if you need me I'm still around.

Cheers

Justin.

Hi Justin,

I just came back from the specialist today who gave me the option of the operation to fuse the three lower vertibrae or to have the injections and then physio. Have you had the injections? did they help? or have you just run out of options?

I am interested and frightened about my own back especially after reading previous threads and comments.

My specialist in Bishops Stortford said if I had the op it would give extra wear and tear to the rest of the vertibrae, any comments?

Pat
