What puts me off them at the moment is that they have so few ports. Am I right in thinking you can't plug in a keyboard or SD card etc. And you can't play DVD's on them or write on to a CD?

There is a very good keyboard that comes with it (screen tap) and you can use the mac external keyboards plus there is now a case with an integrated keyboard so there are possibilities if that's a concern.

You are right about the other two, the iPAD will never replace a full home media system but for those that want to look at the web and use multimedia whilst on the go it's excellent.

Would a SD slot be useful, yes, I have never burnt DVD's so don't miss it but as these things advance then I am sure other features will get added.

Went to my local Apple store today and had a good go on one of these, and decided that it isnt for me. Not overly impressed with carrying a huge gadget costing gadzillion of pounds around, bit of a penis extension if you ask me.

You should have waited. There's a new version coming out in a couple of months with a camera and more features!

I would have one already if I could afford it and stop buying kit!

we discussed that on the phone,, and it wasn't an issue for him,

new one will have USB port too,,

it's not a phone or computer,, it's an ipad..

Ian is the galaxy the samsung? If so my mate got hold of one pretty much as soon as they were available. He seems impressed but it felt clunky - too small to be an iPad, far to large to be a mobile!
