Before I go outside I rub large quantities of vaseline into my ......... hands then put on the polythene garage forecourt gloves till its soaked in then switch to normal gloves otherwise my fingers crack. E45 at end of day. Just looked in the mirror and said `Ya big puff`

Go to a farm supply place and get some udder cream, its about 80% lanolin.

 

That'll sort your cracked hands out.

 

I wear gloves nowadays, so no cracked hands!

Hi one good thing is washing up cleans the hands. you can get also a barrier cream put on before work. but I have found that if you get used to wearing gloves for those everyday jobs and even climbing your hands will get clean. This is from an old git that used to be a mechanic and a grafter.

Snowfire is great for chaps and cracks, and gardeners therapy cream from crabtree is excellent. From my point of view its not about aesthetics, its simply about giving your battered and sore hands a bit of a chance after a punishing day doing treework!

I started using E45 when I was working on farms a couple of years ago. It really does help, theres nothing worse than a bird saying "Eugh, whats wrong with your hands, it looks like you have a disease!"
