If Jones or any other dealer chooses to ignore Stihls policy, they could lose the right to sell the products, and with a large turn-over you can imagine the consequences. I understand that the policy (Stihl) is to protect all of the dealers, so you have be "face to face" at hand-over. This means that you would then use your local supplier.

i personally do not like my local dealer, nor does quite a few in the area like them either, they never want to discount anything no matter what you are going to spend

Fair point, I can understand your feelings on the matter. The only options are to veto Stihl products, though I think Husky have a similar policy, or find a fresh dealer who is willing to accommodate you price-wise. I dont agree from a consumer point of view with any supplier dictating where i would have to buy their products, hardly a free market.

So how do you verify a “professional” user and how far back can you check on qualifications :confused1:

There are ways I can help you guys out if your Pro users, you would need to ring us so we can explain how we do it.

If you have a team of guys working for you then in my eyes it might be worth me making the visit for the first time, as I'm sure with our pricing you would be using us again. Once I've seen you once we can trade over the phone no problem.

Would it not be worth getting a few other lads together who need some Stihl gear then take a little holiday over to the UK to have a handshake with a dealer?

After that just order them in:thumbup:

By mentioning the 'UK' I assume you mean the UK mainland. (Northern Ireland is part of the UK - which makes it all the worse when we're held to ransom by the local dealers of any product).

If stihl is as strict with there company policy's then they should be a bit stricter when it comes to pricing!

There's different stihl dealers selling the same products at vast differences in price, there's the guts of £200 difference in the same saw between two dealers.

Surly that can't be rite, I except certain dealers to be more competitive but to the tune of £200 it just shouldn't happen.
