I am currently looking for a new 4x4 - many of you will know i am a land rover nut and i have just had a new defender for a day - wow a lovely car and i have been slagging it off for a year.

I would like it if people can give the +'s of jap 4x4's etc.... i quite like the look of lee's nissan...:001_tt1:

Anybody that is interested i may be getting rid of my defender tipper (new alloy back - low mileage - nice loved condition):001_smile:

I think the Jap 4X4's are generally more reliable than landrovers.Fewer leaks, rattles, oil patches on the driveway etc.

I still have a landrover back home, dad drove them for forty years but now drives a Izuzu because he got sick of working on landy's.

I think that sayes alot.

The Narava's have dodgy engines and the Mitsi Warriors etc are a bit under powered without the power pack mod thing.

My dad has one of those new navara's best mpg he has got is 22mpg.... I like the Shogun commercials and also had a look at the freelander commercials very nice..

Is a head ache this topic.

My last idea to save on running cost is. Jap 4x4 for wk and family.

Trailer tipper with high sides, able to winch chipper on.

Small cheap to run van for tools and to tow chipper when needed.

Ticks a lot of boxes for the two man teams.

If just climbing= in the van.

Large jobs = van 4x4 chipper and trailer

Medium job = 4x4 chipper in tipper trailer. Get shut of chipps through the day and pick up chipper at end.

Obvious drawbacks but the thought of spending money on another landy is scary!

Any thoughts?

Chris- If you have a good landy hold on to it.imo
