General Tree pics

Went scouting for a future nomadic climbers site earlier today. It's basically a large land drainage pit, taking water from up to 50/60acres. The water level is permenantly changing, meaning soil levels change, root plates become covered and uncovered with water. On one bank stands an ash, which has clearly lost most of the origional soil it grew in. Several of the exposed roots are decayed and dead. The interior of the base is completely hollow, perhaps 10/15% holding wood left. The interesting part I found was that there was more mycelium/mycelial felt than wood inside. The felts were in plates, and layered vertically, as though they had grown in between annual rings, which had then decayed and disappeared. Hopefully you can make that out in the photo, my camera wouldn't fit inside the tree!

Kind of tree related.......So ive started playing with photo stitching so i can get the best quality from a full shot by being able to zoom in and piece together. Just screen grab of the current 2 before i buy the full version.

Job from Monday. Fair size pop to dismantle, 80% of the crown had to be lowered off as it was either over hanging next doors garden or over the garage, plus there was loads of shrubs to avoid. Was able to crash big lump of cord down at the base of the tree as divets didn't matter as the area was going to stump ground a few days later. Not my job, just subbing as a climber.

hello i just took these pictures yesterday and i thought i would share them with everybody this tree is a superb specimen i was hoping someone could tell me where the biggest plain tree is in the uk

i put my logging tape around the base and this is the measurement

 

27foot 9inches

8.44 mtrs
