had a minor problem while finishing off this poplar job these were the only 2 coming out to the ground the leaning 1 would have been a right pile of sh*t to climb and rig out so, i spiked up the 1 next to it stripped it out stuck a pulley at the top, then stuck a surporting line to the top of this stem so it didnt take all the load, tied the lowering line to the leaning poplar then stuck a pull line to the landy. felled it rope took the weight landy started pulling it all going perfect then SNAP there goes the old lowering rope :blushing: still no damage but goes to show the ropes do snap never had one snap before.

im guessing its snapped where it went through the bowline? if so then thats the reason for it snapping! by having a tight bend on the rope its reduced its SWL (the bowline takes as much as 40% out anyway) but the bend must have been more severe and a strong enough pull sent it packing!

good fell though!

Mark: 14 minutes? you pansy :001_tt2:

There's a lesson there James.

The lesson is don't be such a gaylord next time.

I would have climbed that pop and rigged it all out in 14 minutes blah blah blah blah....:001_tongue:

That rope must have had issues beforehand?

Ffs, I'd cut and chuck that in 10 minuets flat :001_rolleyes:

Very dead crack willow today. Persuaded the customer to keep the mono as a favour to David Humphries, and the birds and beasties of this planet. And I'd left the 660 at home. They drew the line at coros! Damn them!

The bark was coming off in sheets all the way up, so I bottled it at about 90 feet. Sorry, 19.

Forgot the before pic again, but I'm sure you'll all agree the 'during' pic looks nicer than Testcrickets pops?:001_tt2:

Sorry James, I'm not picking on you!
