A specimen I had not come across before and a priviledge to have been taken to see it :thumbup1:

That's one I've only ever seen in books and I'd be stumped if I had to ID it :confused1:. Where's your interesting intergeneric find residing?

Red Oak failure from last night.

 

Not going to clear it up, it can stay where it sits.

I'm glad you had your minions placed in the second shot for perspective :lol:. It didn't look that big in the first shot.

 

Is there any indication on what's degraded the roots?

What caused it to fail David?

 

 

 

Some Armillaria at work & the fluting suggests to me Ganoderma resinaceum or a n other.

 

Will investigate further at some point :thumbup1:

 

 

No wind to speak of last night.
