As you squeeze the seeds and the sticky stuff comes out with it you just stick that in a union somewhere on an apple or poplar, there another species it grows on too but can't remember. People seem surprised you can and it's so simple. It's semi parasitic and is generally spread by birds as they wipe their beaks on branches to get them off. I should have a go myself really and see if I can manage any!

Thats because its not. :001_rolleyes:

It really is not that easy.

Do you grow your own trees with burr's too :sneaky2::001_rolleyes:

I was under the impression it was simple. Silly BBC documentary! They went to a place that grows it on a load of apple trees and all they did was pop them open and stick them in a union.

It was mentioned that birds use the twigs and the berries get stuck on their beak so they wipe them on the branches to get them off. And that was how they are spread.

Rob,

we went down to Hampton Court 8 years ago to harvest a huge load of berries & clumps, from an avenue of vet Limes that were being felled.

Up at Hampstead in North London, we have no mistletoe at all.

So the idea was to spread the seed at various heights and diameters of branches of Limes.

Not a single success

I had to squish Misteltoe seeds into the unions of mature but pretty knackered Lime trees about 6 months ago. Be interesting to see if they take.
