job from yesterday old ash pollard they wanted heavy reduction and rounding up was horrible to reduce was just bare not happy with how that one turned out. next was a very very one sided oak to just try and even up and reduce the height a tad, very happy with how that turned out. then we had to dismantle a grey popular which was easy stuff. then went back this morning to pollard another old ash pollard which really does look awful. but theres only so much you can do wen they want you to take it where it was done before still there very happy jobs a good'en. they kept all the chippings and timber just pushed the chipper round there garden chipping into flower beds right next to each tree.

I try to avoid rigging off the same stem as the climbing anchor (possible too in this case)

It will save your life one day, it did mine.

I hear you there Tony. Would have been in trouble with a pop before if I was anchored to a stem that failed once.

That Willow looked sound though, and I doubt Rich was shock loading much.

Nice work Biggun, did you get it cleared up today? John's not wrong, they seem to get more messy the older I get!

Your right of course, but considering the trainees section of the forums population it was well worth mentioning.

Stay safe all.:001_smile:

Thanks for your concerns Tony, but if it wasn't safe then I wouldn't have done it.

As a rule I usually try an find an alternate rigging point, but I don't think you get the full picture. There would have been no point in rigging off the rear stem as it would have created a birds nest with the lowering line going to the portawrap on the main trunk. Plus it as over the rear neighbour's garden. I used a natural redirect and swung the limbs back into the garden.

Yeah Mark, got all cleared up today apart from a bag of sawdust that the guy is going to collect when the stump gets ground.
