I cant remember now, he had a grade 1 and a tache, rode big bikes on the weekend. The only forwarder driver I can remember the name of was Billy McPhee. (valmet driver) He won a few forwarder driving competitions .

 

When your over there go to Old Poltalloch its a little strange. I want to know if the big Sycamores still grow out of the ruins of the house.

I was up there when Jimmy MacDonald fell off the side of the road to Dalavich and died, having argued with his wife and decided to walk home from the Ford hotel.

i met mr sheen, his name is mark walters, or wally to most. gentleman. he appeared the minute the saws started. he has just bought a new bike, his health hasnt been too good, had a couple of strokes, but ok, he now does survey work with the commision, so getting fitter. he measured a spruce the other day that was 54m high, up loch avich. never made poltalich, it is amazing though, havent been there for years. i have made good friends with the guy i was working with so will be taking up the kids for a weekend of exploring.

nice little job to finish off monday, crown reduction on a badly topped beech. dont really enjoy reductions that much, and dont really do that many either. but this was small and easy and provided some beer tokens for the weekend

A re-pollard on a Willow in Essex, hadnt been done for 8-10 years, my ladders are 40ft to give you an idea of the size (no i didnt cut off them!!) The tree had quite a spread as it went over both neighbours gardens! No before photos but one before i took last anchor point out and had a split branch to remove. Had to re-rope three times and lower several branches over the various fences. Also there was a natural spring in the middle of the garden and a long up-hill drag for the groundies
