Looking to import firewood

Hello one and all,

We are looking for a potential partner to discuss the feasibility of importing birch firewood from Finland to the UK.

I appreciate that many are of the opinion that importing firewood defeats the idea of carbon neutrality concerning wood fuels. However the fact remains that the UK has to import vast amounts of firewood every year. This trend will only grow.

Wouldn't it be better if that firewood was quality stuff and not some reject wood from Latvia or the Ukraine?

With the increased use of firewood it is inevitable that stricter regulation regarding standards will follow, either on a national or EU level. We believe this will be a good thing for Finnish firewood due to the current high national standards. This regulation will also be beneficial to the consumer. It will be the businesses that are ahead of the curve who will prosper and prove consistently profitable

If you are interested in discussing this matter (with absolutely no presumption of commitment on either party at this stage) then please pop me an email or a private message and we will look at it together.

I wish everyone a warm weekend

youve just hit the nail on the head with the quote in bold.

I see no good can come to this if a trend is that way why follow it? why would you go to all the extra hassle and im sure cost of importing firewood from another country when there is plenty to go round in this country? Are you a bussiness in finland looking for more of a larger market?

If I have missed the point or am sounding to harsh please correct me and explain why it would be a good idea?

If you can supply birch to my door (3 meter lengths / max 350mm diameter) at a rate of £30 per tonne inclusive of all taxes and delivery costs then i am interested.
