If you have been offered full time work then surely it doesn't matter if they don't have work for you?? You still get paid, thats the whole point of full time work! Take it while you can, self employed is great but crap at the same time and no mortgages/loans etc available to SE at good rates at the moment so it generaly sucks.

Very true!!!

Since the demise of the self cert mortgage and the banks generally becoming like the rear end of a duck, SE has become much more difficult in many ways

Many of use set up in the good times that are now long gone, trying to set up today will be muh, much harder, IMO.

If you have no offer of a job, then in some respects you've very little to loose by giving it a go, but to turn down a job could well be a mistake.

I don't think you would be doing any thing wrong by doing that, BUT you would need to be sure you can pay it back!!!

If you default on a loan you will end up with a terrible credit rating, which could have a very bad affect on your future life:thumbdown:

Honesty is the best policy. If you are going for a loan with an ulterior motive then you are missing out i feel and may do something you might feel is right but not realise is a big mistake, justifying something in your mind is easy but infront of a baliff or solicitor it might not be so easy.

If you want to go self employed and want to get some money together then go and see the bank ASK the requirements and what they can do to help you, then go to your local council and ask them the same. Most things in life are trial and error BUT in business as with other things in life the error can take a long time to be corrected. When i first went self employed nearly 13 years ago I had a chance of £40 a week for 1 year and all i had to do was spend 1 day a week getting taught how to run a business, i was too impatient and couldnt see the point, i could earn £200 a day going to work BUT over the years i have learnt the hard way and some very basic business skills would of prevented a lot of these.

I hear what you and skyhuck are saying and are valid points but isnt bussiness and banking for that matter a risk? the risk that if i Borrow that monney to invest in myself then i can pay it back in double time leading myself to more profit quicker?
