Ivy on a house

I would personally use a mewp. We used one to clear an ancient monument and grade 1 listed wall in Shaftesbury. It was good fun to watch it level out on the cobbles. Not so much fun when at the end ofthe day he decided to take me to its max reach of 80ft. I dont mind heights but when it starts to sway in the wind thats when i cross the line.

That is Virginia creeper, not ivy.

It should with luck pull off from the base, cut it low then ease the stem away using a crow bar, get around 6' lose then use jerking tugs and with luck it will come off in sections.

It will leave the small sucker marks on the surface of the wall and the client needs to be aware of this.

I could do the job in around a day so 1.5 to allow leeway and definitely ladders for the stubborn bits.

It is a mixture of both virginia creeper and ivy.

I would put 2 days on it, as there is a hedge there too they want doing so i will put in two prices, one for the hedge and one for the ivy, the scaffold guys on our yard should have a tower i can use.

Get something in writing to say you are not responsible if the render comes off with it. We did a job just like this and the chap said just pull it all off. I told him it had gone under his render. Dont care he said I want it off. We cut the bottom of it tied it to the towbar and it nearly all came off in one piece along with most of the chaps render. He was ok about it though lol.
