But what do they do with these prices? I don't know what you are trying to get at? There's nothing wrong or underhand in finding out what your competitors are charging. It's called business. If your competitors are able to offer an exact same quality product for a cheaper price whilst still maintaining decent profit margins, then you need to find out how they can do it. Then if you can't compete, you are out of the game.

Tesco and Asda, have on their web sites what others are changing and advertise the fact that they charge less than each other on some products.

If you can prove you are selling the same product cheaper then you can advertise it on TV and even give your competitors names legally.

They may not be trying to under cut you. There is not alot of profit in logs and they could be ringing to find out if they can put their prices up. If one person in your area was bold enough to be 25% higher you may find everyone will follow suit. Logs are in huge demand and are imo a bargain. Most people running log businesses are friendly even on your door step if you get into a price war all that happens is your customers get cheap logs.
