White mycelium points me towards laetiporus, however I may be wrong.

In a local wood. It was the only casaulty in the entire wood. Will be checking one of our sites tomorrow for any more damage from last nights winds as haven't checked it yet. And also checking another wood.

Always finding failed Fagus around my wood seems to be kretz/ustulina all around on deadwood and live wood .

I went back to have a look at the same tree and found some Ganoderma pushing its way out from the big limbs on the ground cant wait to see them fully out. Then climbed to the failure point and found some large brackets their also .

What does your gut instinct tell you the species of Ganoderma is Andrew ?

Ganoderma applanatum on the faliure point adspersum on the limbs on the ground . I know its not the correct second name but had to type quick as im off out.
