Are Timberwolf chippers really that good ??

I find this bearing issue astounding!!

I never touched the bearings on my old abused vermeer in 8 years, and there is still nowt wrong with them now. I had no idea that TWs were this bad on bearings! Is this purely because mine were greasable, and i greased them after every use? Or is is just the sheer size of them?

I found the the large bearing cup wasn't machined deep enough, after having it re-machined at my local precision engineers I haven't had a bearing failure in 4 years, previous to this it was a frequent problem. Poss design fault with this part, worth checking.

 

Sods law, bet the bearings will blow next week now I have tempted fate!!:blushing:

a tw dealer told me some yrs back the bearing carrier for some of the 190,s wer machined wrong causing premature bearing failure ,dont know if they all got recalled for repairs !!! ther could be come left out ther ,mine was an o4 ,

Surely it would,nt be to hard to have some after market bearings fitted with grease nipples .

 

Even if none exist(or as mentioned above its very compact and not much space) surely a bearing manufacture could come up with something and make a good few quid!
