Natures perfect Stunt Fell

Went to clear this up on Friday after wind felled it on Thursday night. It was quite amazing really. Apart from a few divots in the grass and a few snapped twigs there really was no damage. If it had been just a couple of degrees either way it would have been a lot worse. Or the other direction would have trashed the property behind.

If you went to price this up you REALLY would not think it would stunt fell. I haven't seen one this lucky for a while.

Here's a willow we had to go and sort out a couple of weeks back.

Surprisingly, the tree couldn't have fallen any better into that small garden.

The main scaffolds had penetrated the lawn either side of a path and had missed the flagged patio by a few inches.

Under that lot was the fence, five chairs and a glass topped table, two large umbrellas and a tall patio heater, all were undamaged!

The only damage was their sky dish was a bit bent and a few gutter clips had snapped!

Very lucky.

I havent got any pictures unfortunately but we had a large Turkey Oak fail next to 3 25,000 volt power lines. The member of the public said it was a limb so we brought the lil saws but then realised there was a massive hole in a line of three 280 year old oaks. No sign of rot in the base or root system. And it wasnt windy. It was very strange. If it went the other way it would have flattened about 30 cars behind the bank.

That would take the fun out of it:lol:

Ha ha. True but the fun wasn't my initial plan.

I wanted the root plate back as neatly as poss and after having a good look at what roots that were left I felt there was no way it was standing up without me lifting it up.

I hear what you are saying about technique and not being the correct way but it seemed safe to me. And I was the only one standing anywhere near it whilst cutting.
