i think the saying goes - you get what you pay for - £500 sounds middle of the road sort of price to me

as a guide - my domains (.co.uk and .com) cost about £25 for 2 yrs - so domain names are only expensive if you are going through a middle man

a friend of mine hosts the site (for free) - i built it myself using very basic web publishing software - it's a simple site - but then it does not need to be flash - it does what it says on the tin

Get yourself a copy of Dreamweaver (this wouldn`t cost you a penny if you know where to go ;)) and create your own site with the flashiest of tools currently available, then just fork out around £20 a year for the hosting (1&1 etc.?)

The only cost would be your time building it but that can also be a fun thing?

If only building a website was as easy as passing my 38&39 next week then life would be kinda ok :/

i did mine myself and cost £55 to host for a year with 123-reg and use iweb on my mac to do all the designing etc.

But took me 2 days of pulling my hair out to get it sorted and will still needs finishing off.

so £500 for a professionally designed website not that bad at all.
