the boot cut..

a saw probably would rip them out instead of snagging against metal wires.

the class 1 protective materials are 20m/s which is a fair speed, but it would only be rundown when you are most likely to dig it into a body part.

i snagged just above my knee on rundown, got two small holes from two cutters, was almost stopped and i only got two small holes in the outer fabric

I'd prefer the saw to rip out a couple of braided wires and jam them in the sprocket than cut through my shin.

done the same thing but with a log in an old pair of trousers went through and into the log about an inch, but it says in the info you get with them, "will not give 100% protection"

Ditto.

Bit worrying, really.

My Craghoppers have offered some excellent protection this summer, though.

Wearing them always reminds me not to hit my legs with my chainsaw....:sneaky2:

The best kind of personal protection is seeing how this stuff works (or doesn't work, rather) when the poo hits the fan. Regular reminders that even when tarted up in all of our crazy expensive Stihl/Husq/SIP/StretchAir/Kilma gear that we're still far from invincible.

I've got a couple of small skags on my boots from rush-logging during dusk one late afternoon :blushing: It only removed part of the rubber cap cover, no contact with the leather below, but it serves as a constant reminder to think twice, cut once.
