Petzl Sequioa Harness

I've just bought the sequioa SRT and find it very comfy. One thing that does slightly worry me though is the screws coming lose in the gold gates. How is everyone finding these? Are they holding up to daily use?

Also, something I've noticed in the instructions that you get with the harness is that the attachment bridge and each side D ring are only rated to 15kN. This seems quite low to me considering most karabiners are rated to 30kN. Any comments.

Sorry if this sounds a bit stupid :blushing:but I'm still at college and this is the first harness I have bought and was just interested what other people thought.

Thanks

Gary

Quite a few blokes at work have them and love them, plus I hear that petzel have just put a ten year warrenty across the range, I use a TM but there only good for 3 months hard use apparently

as for the side Ds they are fine as long as you attach to the bridge 15+15=30,

not sure about the screws not a fan myself, but harness have had bridges attached to screws gates for years, its something that puts me off the tree flex. but I'm told it's fine as long as you locktite them after 3 uses. but don't quote me on that

Where is this advice about a Treemotion only being good for 3 months hard use coming from? It can be confusing and misleading, i can only assume you mean the bridge, which is fair enough as its only a piece of rope nad easily and cheaply replacable.

I've had my TM over a year and only now am i thinking of replacing the bridge, I thought the stopper knots were rated to 12kn that equals 24kn and more than strong enough.

it’s in the manufactures guidelines under section N Life Span. My one is coming up for LOLOR soon and there’s been a lot of talk about it at work, hopefully the guy I get isn’t too anal, I agree if every part of the harness is in good nick shouldn’t be problem. but then I’m not a LOLOR inspector.

I love my TM and don't want to lose it!:scared1:

I can't be bothered to go find the guidelines, but i take your word for it, it is possible to wear out a harness like Treemotion through some serious heavy duty use, or with the inclusion of other hardwear on the bridge, exposure to certain chemicals, weather conditions blah blah

Its the same with rope you could trash one in months if you always natural crotched climbed from the bottom rope over rope, left the excess on the dirt, weather etc etc.

Extreme circumstances!

if a loler inspector fails it purely because it over 3 months old regardless of condition should have his inspector license or whatever it is they have taken from them.

Like i've said my treemotion is over a year old and i need a new bridge thats all, in another year more parts may need replacing, this is easy to do now as replacement parts are now availible. To be honest its lasting better than i thought it would so i'm very happy, i didn't buy the harness for durability!

Just bought a sequioa after using a Willans for about 3 years, and what a difference!!! It feels like im not wearing one, and I can in so many different positions, I would recommend one.

As for the screws in the rings, I cant see them coming out very easily, shouldn't be an issue.

Im thinking about getting a petzl swivel so I have even more freedom of movement, would anyone else recommend them with this harness?

Tom.
