Yes, I've had the same problem. The hitch can get caught underneath the termination knot when it collapses. Solutions are to use as small a carabiner as possible for the termination knot, use a longer hitch cord to make the friction hitch "taller", and use a stiffer cord that won't collapse as much.

 

Or get a nice spliced eye.

 

i find evan with a spliced eye this can still happen,although i like and use the hitch climber as a slack tending pulley i still put my spliced eye on the harness.

have tried the smallest biner i can find!

This is what I am working on. I have yet to do any real climbing on it yet. !!!

 

The prussic cord is small and locks in both directions unlike the Ropeman.

 

If I can find a smaller clip I can make this even cleaner!!!

i have been playing around with this recently. i like it and think its useful. but i have been using a ropeman on it and find you have to go all the way up to your cambium saver or anchor point which then pushes it all back down again so you can reach it.
