and if people can be respectfull, which I hope they can, I can't see an issue.

I don't think religion is respectful of those who are atheists, or don't obey the dogma the religion demands is obeyed. As such It deserves absolute disrespect. Buddhism on the other hand which is not a religion in the same way is deserving of great respect. I'm not Buddhist by the way. The public figures of the worlds main religions talk about mutual respect of other religions, but never show it at a grass roots level. People deserve respect, not their religion. I'm going to refrain from showing any particular religion any disrespect on this forum, not because it is undeserving, but because it will have my `account' suspended.

i think you misunderstand what I mean by respectfull. I personally respect peoples religeous beliefs, and am understanding of them, in many ways I admire there faith. However i have no repect for the organisations which choose to manipulate these people, dictating there actions through dogma and dividing people by creating factions and sects.

Do you respect the beliefs that put gays, atheists, infidels etc into the burning pit of hell to live a life of torment? I have respect for peoples beliefs that have tolerance of all peoples no matter what their spiritual leanings. unfortunately this is a rare thing. Religion doesn't preach tolerance, or compassion, either in it's dogma or on the streets where people live. A true Christian would find my disrespect forgivable no matter how far I push it. I will talk about this disrespect, but once again the forum does not allow me to do so, so I will refrain from speaking my mind. What I find offensive in religions on the other hand is disseminated freely and actively promoted. I don't have a problem with the tolerance of religion, help thy neighbor, do unto others etc as these are the morals of any decent human. I am intolerant of intolerance. The love bit is cool, I just wish it was just the love bit.

You have made an important point between belief and the perception of religeous belief put forward by the media and those in a position of power. I will also refrain from an almost identical rant, as i would also be in line for the "long walk" lol
