if im that wet when i get home then i stick my trousers in the wash then put on a really high spin a couple of times, hang em up and they are generaly pritty dry the next day. i find chainsaw gloves the worst, if iv been on the ground. take bloody ages to dry and then are as hard as anything

The best thing IME to dry clothes is a de-humidifier.

 

It's pointless having the fire/heating on (unless it's cold) just think of all the water that's going into the air and then the plaster, furnishings etc in the house. A dehumidifier uses about the same energy as a fridge and collects all the extracted water in a tank for disposal.

 

They are fantastic. If you need to dry stuff quickly put dehum. and clothes on maiden in the smallest room and leave for the evening and night - should be dry by the morning.

 

Cost iirc about £150+ for a decent one.
