Anyone else on here an avid book worm?

I've just spent too many hours finishing Tom Robins book "Jitterbug Perfume"

Awkward in style and construction in parts, but the humour is dark and fierce, the politics incorrect and the laughs both loud and subtle. Enjoyed it immensley.

Who has some good recomendations? and what you reading?

I'm a Robbins fan, Ive read most of them. my fave is Still Life with wood pecker.

If you have fun with the oddness of Robbins try these, they are my absolute favorites...

The Third Policeman -flan O'Brien. The greatest Irish novel ever. More python than python, and 20 years before!

When the Ass saw the angel-Nick cave. yes that nick Cave. dark as a a novel can get without actually turning the light off.

The 3 stigmata of Palma eldrich-Philip K dick. The master takes us on a very weird trip into Sc-fi. Unfilmable thankfully.

My wife has chunking her way through Anna Karenina, war and peace and an ed o Brian novel all at the same time! Parallel reading gone nuts!

I enjoyed the roland and the dark tower series of stephen king's, but i'v never got round to reading anything else by him.

I'v also managed to avoid everything by j.k.rowling.....

Dont read as much as i used too, just got out of the habit i suppose, although i re-read pratchetts for relaxation!

The last book i read was McCarthy's Bar, by Pete McCarthy, a collection of Irish anecdotes loosely held together by a journey through Ireland visiting McCarthy's Bars. Dry humour aplenty as well as insights into what makes the Irish irish.

I know someone...and I'm talking fully grown mature male with macho competitive streak, owns a shotgun certificate... that went to a Harry potter book signing in wizards cloak.

I was thinking of ringing firearms licensing and telling them, in the belief he is unfit to own a certificate.
