This will be one of a few sculptures I will be doing in Cragside hall grounds Rothbury in late August, had to show you's this Douglas Fir butt that will be a green man face, it will be the first I do

tommy theres some top quality firs there........are they all still standing, did some power line work there several years back .......the forester was on about felling them due to a fungal attack.

I don't know which ones your on about, but yes there is still loads of immpressive mature Firs, they did have the record for the tallest Douglas in England till it was beaten by one in the south!

 

Will be up there for about 2-3 weeks late August, can't wait!

Finally got up there and got the first done, not a Greenman more a Green Creature, Had to wheel barrow the saws down the valley to it, took three six hour days, could of done with a 4' bar! my 25" bar was just no way big enough so had to nibble the end off to get the angle I wanted!
