They had to change from the HS80 to HS81 for vibration reasons. We've sold plenty of the HS81 for the past year or so

and have had no problems.

stihl hs85 40" bar

 

Thats the one, brilliant.

I replaced it with a 86t the biggest load of garbage ever! Dont think I'll bother buying another stihl one if this is the best they can do.

 

Sorry to be negative but why mess about with something when it works well in the first place.

Have the 85 and the 86 with 40" bar. Prefer the 86 as its lighter. Had no trouble with it yet.

I have used the stilh, tanaka and a robin. I found the stihl very heavy and I love using the tanaka, I use this for everything. My robin is knackered but thought that it was a good hedge trimmer. If i was to buy a new one I would buy a robin or a tanaka. I hope this helps!

You do find that the heaviness is due to heavy more robust engineering.

 

The heavier the better build quality I reckon from experience if stripping hundreds of them.
