My next log tipper truck hilux

My Hilux is also 11 years old. Touch wood never let me down. Biggest expense i've had was four new tyres but that is just erratic driving:lol:.

I've had it for seven years now but would like to move on to a newer vehicle. Is a toss up between another Hilux or a Land Rover but think i'll go Jap again then. Head has got to rule heart:thumbup:

So far £2200 . The chassis I think is the same as mk3 4 and 5 so in theory you could put your tipper on a 55 plate. Gives the tipper a bit more life. I think a Land rover may be a step in the wrong direction.

 

front 2 pillars each side for the rear body are in different positions on a mk3 to a mk4 so you cant do a straight swap tho its dead easy to make an adaptor plate

I have to replace the fog light every year for the MOT. Just a standard part of the MOT for me now!! The original one got full of mud and rust so replaced with a cheap little one that hangs below. By the end of the year it's full of mud and literally hangs, by the wires, below!! Anyway i'll have mine for the rest of my life if i keep it until i've done 260,000. Do they feel kind of worn out at that sort of mileage?

I drove one a month ago with 407,000 miles and you could not fault it although the seat was a bit worn. Alot depends on whether its been abused or serviced.

Couldnt agree more, keep them well serviced and they go on forever, theres not really a lot to go wrong, no electric windows,air con etc , they are just a basic workhorse.

Servicing isn't a problem, mine rattles and squeaks a bit!! Best vehicle i've ever owned mind you. Would like another one with just a few less squeaks now. I just like the idea of going out in the morning and it starting first turn of the key. Every morning as well. Who says you can't beat the Land Rover:lol:. Come on guys where is the 'Jap fan cub'?

How much weight can you carry? I'm looking at geting a landcruiser tipper, but not sure the springs will handle that kind of weight day in day out. Do you get the springs beefed up?

Wowsers !! I got a six yr old that i have had from virtually new (she was 5 months old and had been used as test drive truck hence had about 4000m on the clock )

cheres to that!!! iva a mk 4 and my dad a mk 3, realy rate them, i dont know many landrover defenders at 3 -400000 with the original chassis, engine, bodywork, gearbox ect ect:laugh1:

And I bet you dont have a 1" gap all round the doors like a defender
