After being laughed at by the missus for not being able to do it i finally got it together. Went out armed with a towel to catch it.......after chasing it round the garden for ten minutes flung the towel on top only for it to take flight onto the neighbours roof!! Excellent.......its only just flew the nest and needed to be faced with death for it to get its wings working properly.......sausages for dinner then.

I tried to wring the neck of a pigeon.

Turned up at a clients to do a bit of tree work, she was upset that one of her dogs had half killed a pigeon and could we finish it off.

Picked it up, grasped its head, spun it around and pulled its head clean off!

She didnt look to happy and disappeared straight back inside.

Best to just to stamp on them I think.:thumbup1:

Never try and ring a pigeons neck :laugh1:

Their heads always come off .... best way is use a makeshift priest..

Nice heavy stick whacked around the back of the head.

The only trouble with pigeons is getting to hit them clean on the back of the skull, if you hold them and angle them down they alway have their head level, they're not very obliging when it comes to execution.

Easiest way to kill a pigeon is to cup it in your hands, and press both thumbs firmly in the middle of it's back, breaking it's spine. Hold firmly like this for 30 seconds or so and you will feel the inevitable nerves etc.

Interestingly enough, birds often fein a broken wing to draw attention to themselfs from predators and away from thier partner, the nest, brood or similar... Grouse do it alot, as do Pheasants..

In a different life, when I was a naive and senseless teenager :blushing::biggrin:

I was tasked to rid one of the aviaries at work of it's intruders.

Twenty minutes later having been overcome by blood lust and the desire to become Joe Dimagio for a while,

thirty two pidgeons were bereft of life.

Felt really bad about it for years.

Though a passing scout for the red socks did offer me a lucrative contract :001_tongue:
