first job for a client that could potentially lead to more, lives out of the country and so when mentioned payment said she could either bank transfere or i could wait a cpl weeks until she is home then go up collect in person. Obviously going up in person is a much better way to build a raport, the question is do I put a bit extra on the job for the wait and extra hour of time and diesel collecting will consume or just suck it up and hope more work comes out of it?

Not sure about adding any on because you are collecting the money, but what i will say is never reduce payments or do extra/give favours based upon the "hope" there will be more work. Been there myself and it doesnt end up in your favour.

IMO face to face is better and find any jobs you get threw bizniz companys you have to wait 30 days for payent anyway so unless you need it now push for the transfer or be patient and be remembered by the client as a very understanding company

sound advice, I've left it open to what suits her, and if it does end up bein collection well as said face to face is better and the drive out the house aint to shabby either :P

get it up you man, i asked for some advice not to be spoken to like that. And if that is your advice, bear in the mind the old addage if youve got nothing nice to say, say nothing at all.

personally i'd go over & pickup the cash (might be a cheque).

then you can both look at the finished work (or gap where there was a tree) & all the memories of what a wonderful job you did will come flooding back to her! you'll end up chatting about other possible work & she'll have a fresher opinion of you & more than likely recomend you to some friends too.

without sounding harsh, if someone turned up on my doorstep & asked for more money for driving to come & get it, firstly they wouldn't get it. secondly, it would create bad vibes, & thirdly i most certainly wouldn't recomend them to anyone, in fact quite the opposite.

take the diesel hit on the chin, enjoy the drive & smile.

You never know you might even come across a new job on the way there & back........
