One bit of advice i would give is, if there is anyone else doing firewood within 10 miles of you, dont bother, as you'll both end up with half a business and neither of you will make any money.

Not at all!!!!!!!!!! just make sure you do things better than your competitors:thumbup:

Thats exactly what I thought .. when I was considering doing it I saw a local tree surgeon working and I pulled up and asked if he sold his wood because I was considering starting a firewood business .. he said that if I did he would put me out of business straight away :001_rolleyes:

That is the option, and thinking about it coming from me its a bit rich as I started up only 200 yards from a guy who sells over 200 tonne a year (although he said he wasn't prepared to take on any new customers which is why i decided to fill the gap!):blushing:

It does not matter how many people sell firewood in your area. Are they filling the demand, could you fill a gap ie ( seasoned ) If you start this winter part time you wont have all yours eggs in one basket and will have a better feel for the business the following year. Small business makes small mistakes easy to learn from. I wish anyone who is prepared to graft luck with their venture :thumbup1:
