Cool thread, with some fantastic images :thumbup: where is Chris? I vote for a revival :D

 

Oh yes! i have just found out my grubs hatched out from the polyporus bracket! they are tiny flies! body of similar colour to that of the flat footed flies associated with g. applanatum! now i can send of a sample for Identification

yep, proper fruit loop! did you get an ID?

 

 

 

 

according to buglife Applanatum is the only fungus known to be parasitised by a fly, so i have at least two to add potentialy to this list.

 

I now know the saddle has many dependant species, are none of them (flies) considered parasites? Or other flies, like fungus gnats, are they not parasites? Or do they only consume mycelium and therefore not considered as fruit body fungi parasites? :confused:
