Asplen, in life, universaly i mean, there are around 1% of antagonists, be they fungi or whatever, i think your flow is "antagonistic" might even use the term Anaerobic, a technical word which literally means without air (where "air" is generally used to mean oxygen), as opposed to aerobic.

anaerobic conditions are usualy indacated by a "foul odour" a repulsive and negative space, rather than a welcoming receptive one!

Ad hominem

Ad hominem - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ad hominem abusive usually involves insulting or belittling one's opponent, but can also involve pointing out factual but ostensible character flaws or actions which are irrelevant to the opponent's argument. This tactic is logically fallacious because insults and even true negative facts about the opponent's personal character have nothing to do with the logical merits of the opponent's arguments or assertions.

Your running out of ideas Hama

Your "technical" spiel as it were might have been funny if it weren't for the fact that despite whatever barb was taken from my post - the ultimate intention of it was to get more people reading yours.

Your "flow" is funny though.

It's that of a failing college student regurgitating year one syllabus onto forums alongside impractical, almost theological tree rhetoric in the delusional belief that this will equate to you being a consultant.

You were right before though Hama, letters after your name aren't everything, but being able to hand documents in on time and spell "indicative" would be a start.

[insert arch-type smiley here of choice].

Sorry for the previous swear word mods.

Why on earth should i invest my time and energy into a degree that has little or no bearing on where i want to be? If studying for a degree means to give up my entire "other intersts" learning is a bore, rather than an inspiration.

Academics are a seperate breed, a breed i am cleary not, and this is to my detriment. i have CHOSEN to back off my degree untill such time that I am mature enough to give it my full and undiveded atention, the atention it deserves. Also til such time that I can afford the cost, for which i am on the verge of losing my house, it was CPD or degree, my bat course and claus seminars are far more relevant than the degree and the ability to say i am qualified.

But i will say that if our industry wants to produce more "qualified arbs" with the practical experience of the industry as well as the science then it is going to need to find a balance between delivery and avaliability, content and relevance. I struggled, no denying it, i couldnt resolve my issues easily and became lost, that is my failing and you with some justification rightly point out my personel flaws.

The difference between you and me is thus however, i am open to your flow, even in the pressence of this most hurtfull of retorts, as for my spelling so f'in what, i can still hold my ground where it counts, and i bet my bottom dollar i can pick a report written by you and your clan to piecses!

i apologise if you felt so incensed by my reply, it was a litle sarcasm, and meant only to say please dont be so negative, to ask you to tone down your attitude towards me, instead in your ignorance, you chose to go further on to a defence and attack mode, even swearing in the proscess.

i could easily have replied in an aggressive way to this post of yours, but in a lot of what you say there is truth, but even so, it is of a tone that is as I say aenorobic and toxic, and if thats the nature of you then i shall say it like i see it, as indeed you have here, in a less sympathetic flow.

Okaaay so where do you see arb heading in the next decade?

If we are talking working practices then I would guess that HSE will have a big part like someone else already mentioned.

If we are talking ecology, environment then I think not much change at all.

Most of my work is to keep trees and hedges smaller or to get rid entirely, I dont think that will ever change tbh.

:001_rolleyes: I dont expect people to share an opinion on our future, but why oh why cant seemingly intellectual beings manage to abstain from trading cheap shots on forum? Just because I dont necessarily agree 100% with Hama, it doesnt mean I'll disagree 100% either.

Forums were built for debate. People behind computer screens and false names generally say alot more than if they were debating in real life. Simples

Is it true that NFU have stopped insuring people who are newly qualified / certificated. If this is true and other insurance companies take a similar stand, this could make a huge difference to Arb in the next few years.

all i can offer now to this debate is give Tony a break, i used to lock horns with him the second he came on here, maybe i felt threatened by him maybe he just put my back up or maybe i just like to taunt him for a laugh but i can genuinly say he is just a very passionate chilled out guy who just wants to share it with others, and i can say for the record, my meeting with him has changed me as a person, and for the better, so why not just listen to the guy and maybe you might learn something, it might not be what some think is very intelectual but it isnt offensive and he always holds up his end when it comes to manners and courtessy. Its Sunday, the sun is shining and we come on here to chill out and relax.:001_cool:

I think that the main things which will affect the arb industry in the future will be:

The increasing number of people coming out of the colleges and seeking to work in an industry which doesn't have the capacity to absorb them.

The number of new firms setting up which goes up every year which will make it more competitive and harder to make a living.

I can see insurance getting more and more expensive and harder to get.

I think there will be a lot more H & S legislation and regulation which impacts on our industry and will there will be alot more hoops to jump through in order to operate by the book in this industry.

I would love to be able to say I think it will get better, but unfortunately I'd be kidding myself.

I think it will become more difficult to make a living running an arb business over the next 10 years.

Competion, Regulation & Insurance.
