Had another today, or should i say this is "todays" cheeky customer;

Little rowan out, £80 down to the ground. Did said works, customer came out and this was the conversation;

"Oh, that didnt take long, who does the check need making out to?"

"It was £80 wasnt it?"

Told her the mane and confirmed the price

"ok, Ill go and get a check for you"

"Oh, actually, while you are here, could you just cut that elder back thats hanging over the fence from the farmers field?"

"Sure Mrs H, it wont take me long while im here. I dare say Ill have it done by the time the kettle has boiled. Ill have strong coffee with one sugar"!

Got my £80 cheque, a nice coffee and a couple of bourbons

Don't think people realise how much work is involved processing trees they get a shock when it's all on the deck I think getting them down is by far the easy bit usually.

Think your right arbclimber just people been taking the michael with our good nature lately!

To be good natured is an excellent characteristic mate. Doing extra work for nothing means you are too nice, or not confident enough in your service, to ask for extra money. Although, like 18 stoner said, even a cup of coffee you wouldn't have otherwise had, is better than nothing.:thumbup1:

Liking the pics of your bro climbing on the other thread mate. By your comments, you seem proper proud of him:thumbup1:

Usually get it from farmers. I think the best was about 5 years ago. Mature oak on the side of a quiet road. Nice straight millable trunk. Big tree, plenty of work, £1100 quoted. Well he thought i would do it for the wood, as he knew i miled timber, and i could sell the rest for logs. Then i said no way on a TPO,d tree, and he said ok- sunday morning, and he would deal with the arisings!!! Oh, and he wanted a slab from the trunk and 8 4x3 12' beams for his sons barn conversion. I said £1100 for the tree, and i would work out a price for the timber..........DONT BACK DOWN GUYS. Needless to say i didnt get the job, and the tree still stands, and i know 3 others who have been approached in the same manner.
