Short ropes

I dont like having too much rope lying around so have around four ropes of varying lengths including my RPLanyard, a nice short (whoops) bit of tachy comes in handy when in a big broad canpoy as i can leave my main line in central anchor and drop down to lower limbs with the short bit, saves a lot of time and energy around big reductions.

Thats what i would like to know.......I have some i use for my VT, but cannot for the life of me remember its name. In fact i thnk you were there when i bought it werent you steve?

As i understand it the 'anti-bowline' thing has come about because some lad clipped the wrong part of the knot into his 'biner and fell out of the tree as the knot was pulled undone. It was late in the day, wet and his harness was hidden a bit by his waterproof jacket apparently....If he had had a stopper knot at the end of the tail it wouldnt have happened, and he was alos using a very small bowline such as in the pic above (no criticism intended BTW Treeson, just an example, thanks:thumbup1:) which in the wet and doing things by feel....

Agree with that. It is generally unsafe to have a knot (of any type) with a hitchclimber/VT setup, since it may catch the VT and prevent it from gripping.

This, in my opinion, is the prime reason for using a spliced/sewn eye.

i was under the impression a knot was fine as long as you left a longer loop?

so the knot itself does not interfere with the ~VT

please correct me if i'm wrong there..:001_smile:
