I have got a pretty elderly one, which is pretty scabby looking, but still goes like the proverbial...I have put a decent size engine on mine which helps, but even when it had the little petrol on it it was godod. Theyre pretty rugged and chunky, but they wont let you down. I would happily have another one.

My first chipper!

They are getting on a bit now,but as has been said they are robust and easy to work on.Have an expert look it over, most would have had or would need their Bearings changed by now. That depends on the hours of course.

If your starting out on a budget, then the right machine in good condtion should serve you well.

Used to hire one years ago it had a hard life but worked pretty well on the whole, abit top heavy and unstable on kerbs, the wheelbase/axle width is abit narrow(perhaps?!), but nice machine.

yeah that narrow wheel base!!!seen them rolled a few times takes a bit to get them back up and with a bit of luck its not on the engine side!

have you seen 1 that your thinking of buying? ive had 1 for nearly 3 years. 2001 model. and ive been happy with it. they are very well built,(think the saying is overbuilt) as the are american machines. Its never broken down on me yet. Like all machinery if you take care of it, it will work well. I change/sharpen blades every 50 hrs and same for filters. grease point every week. never let it get low on diesel (learnt the hard way on that). The bad point is is heavier than timberwolfs. but i think theres a timberwolf thread or 2on the site so read up on there faults also. Also as matty says with the wheelbase get 1 that has the wheels outside not under the body of the chipper as these 1s or more stable.

how many hours would you think the bearing would need replacing? When you say they are easy to work on are the blades easy to change and most things easy to access?
