bit of advice for beginner climber

ok so the time has come after completing my cs38 i managed to save up some money and it's time to get my climbing gear - i've made configuration using f.r. jones catalogue and was wondering if youse could tell me what do u think or advice what do u reckon i should change etc? (might save me some money and headache in future) :blushing:

TT19A Austria Duo 3 £201.71

TT31HV136 36m New England Hi-Vee 1 splice £109.38

TT77D New England split tail 1.5m sewn £13.65

TT78A Knotted prussik loop 650mm w/serial conforms EN566 £10.00

TT78A Knotted prussik loop 650mm w/serial conforms EN566 £10.00

TT119 30kn Mongoose 3 way (aluminium) £11.75

TT119 30kn Mongoose 3 way (aluminium) £11.75

TT153 22kn Petzl P05W £10.02

 

also possibly some lanyard (5m) ?

 

any suggestions will be taken on board as i know that i will have to find myself getting up on tree but like i said every little helps :001_smile:

instead of using a prussik you can try other methods like a hitch climber or a lock jack they and are both very good once you get used to, my friend bought a lock jack yesterday and he loves it already. I would recommend a lanyard, i use them when i am climbing and are very good instead of using both ends of your climbing line.

Have you tried the Duo? I would get yourself either to a show or shop where you can try on harnesses as they are all very different. I myself use a tree motion very adjustable to stay comfy

when i did my training i had chance to try butterfly, komet and instructor (andy) was kind enough to let me try his harness (austria duo 2) which suited me most
