Armour-Prus goes flat after a while which has an huge effect on any hitch. but still worth a try i say?

 

Its always the same thing we all want nice fast smooth hitch but they are alway going to go tight after all thats there design.

 

i use 4wraps- 3 x-over but i just tie what i feels best every climbing line is constructed differently and that will also play a part in it.

Right i've found i have 3m odd of the lovely regate stuff. Tomorrow if the VT is naff im changing to 'burn & bit' cord Or maybe after i've had a play on daryls lockjack one of them instead....

the green and black one i know of is the sirius, which is a real nice all-round hitch cord, great for your lanyard.

 

OP is a great hitch cord that will last for awhile but when it start to go it goes quick.

On the longevity front, long descents on a fig 8 backed up by a slightly loosened hitch do increase the wear time. And reduce the blisters on the fingers!

 

Mind you, I normally just shuffle back down my ladder these days.

You can also have a very small prussic loop above the eye splice and put a revolver in clip the tail end into it and then you can manage the friction as much or as little as you want.

I've been using op on Tachyon which is 11.5 without too many probs, although it does take time to get right. I like to minimise the sitback so I tie it short, about 60cm I think, tying short definately makes the hitch more grippy. The grippiest hitch I have tried is the icicle, you could give that a go. OP does need time to bed in, add extra wraps and then remove them once its going better.

 

BTW I am currently using the Howard hitch and its been going well>>>>
