i will join the ex military guys with 6 years in the Royal Navy. should have left about 2 days in but i was stubborn and didn't want to go back home to have the piss taken outta me! so i stayed till i fell in love with the one:001_tt1: i had a year to sort my crap out till i hit civvy street and the only thing i wanted 2 do was to forefill my childhood ambition and become a pro surfer!:001_smile: This was frownd apon by everyone so i seen a guy climbing a tree in a mag and that was the hook.

since then i have run a business for three years, and now jumped ship to work for an LA! to be honest i have been thinking hard about arb and is it for me!!:bored: i have decided maybe i should have gone for pro surfer. So selling tipper and needles crap and going back to my roots surfing more working less! :001_tongue:

Hi Pat,

always wondered why you move on.

Lack of progression,

Change of regime,

or just ready to go it alone?

Epping must of provided you with a huge range of variety in terms of tree work.

Great site.

David

Hi Dave,

I must admit from the outside looking in I had a good job, house and all but I progressed too far, all I was doing was absence management, sorting employee disputes and basically anything but tree work!

(Management hypocracy drove me up the wall as well)

I love the forest and often visit. I now enjoy puting my experience into practice on veteran trees, tree reports for local businesses and loads of climbing which I really enjoy.

Know exactly where ya comin from, Pat.

I've just about managed to keep away from that little web, and still get to go out and play with the fells about 50/50 these days. :001_smile:

Just about to finish after 17 years in the services. Looking to go back to study next September but needed to use up resettlement time and money. Have always been interested in the outdoors and climbing/caving, saw the Kingswood Training advert in 'Quest' (service bods will know what I mean) and completed the course earlier this year. Really enjoyed it - thanks Richard - and want to do more!

Mostly doing jobs for friends and neighbours at the weekends at the moment because I'm studying for exams and also working full-time during the week. Have managed to get a saw and PPE and have just bought rope, harness and climbing gear. Aim is to build the experience and then do start doing basic aerial-rescue qualified groundie work with someone (anyone!) and take it from there...

Hmmmmm....and I know where your coming from. I now have to write up method statements and risk assessments for every single job, think I'll be wearing a groove in my office chair!
