So no legal methods then.. It is one good thing about tree work you normaly only lose your time rather than if you have sold goods or used materials.. Which reminds me another builder owes me for stump grinding..

What is it with builders and developers! 90% of residential customers pay up straight away no bother, builders and developers need chasing and threats before payment!

I've done a couple of BS5837 surveys recently and they've yet to pay up! If your report dosen't say exactly what they want they seem to think they don't have to pay!

We do alot of consultancy work, it usually takes 2-3 months to get paid off developers or architects, we find councils, utilities and charities usually pay on time unless there is a mix up at some stage, housing associations are often bad payers.

We have recently had larger architects say they want 90 and even 120 day accounts, we reply that yes you can but there is a premium on the invoice of 30%. to cover the inconvineance.....

A good trick to fish out crap payers is to quote and give a price for if the job is paid within 30 days and another price for if paid after 30 days, the good thing about that is if it is a problem you instantly know they are bad payers......

The comments above do not apply to all individuals and companies etc.

never send a signed copy before they pay, and state on the invoice that the report is not valid unless signed... works every time. Also if they say its a problem when you quote you know hat they are bad payers....

A small local business went to the wall last year, owner declared bankrupt. He now has to pay his creditors 2p in the pound??????!!!! Of course, he's taken 3 holidays since bankruptcy, 2 abroad and one in this country. Now there's an incentive to work hard.

Don't think playing these pranks are really going to achieve anything. You would look a right dick if you got caught letting someones tyres down, not to mention the likelyhood of getting a kick in the teeth. Better off putting your energy else where and concentrate on getting your money.:icon14:

nothing anyone can do about a bankrupt i'm sorry to say, most of my clients sign a terms and conditions agreement, nothing too heavy, my payment terms clearly state if you go over 30 days, X% will be incurred daily!

i'm not being a smart ass but in all the years i've been trading i've never not been paid, and i've never had a cheque bounce, call me lucky or intuitive, but I can sift the chaff from the wheat 'usually'..
