Towing restrictions

Is anyone experiencing problems arising from the young ages of drivers and the restrictions imposed on them regarding towing over 750 kg’s? As I’m getting older, the lads are getting younger and I can see real problems arising in the future.

It seems that driving licences obtained since 1st January 1997 need to obtain subcategories C1+E. I’ve rang round a few driving schools and the average price is £980!!

Apologies if this subject has been discussed before.

There'll be a ticket for farting in public next.

A one day course, to learn how to sneak one out and the dangers of sneaking one out in the wrong place.

Could cause an accident if you farted in a confined space, such as in a car.

Innappropraite places such as resturants???

You would need training to learn how to tell whether or not it is a wet one??

I can see the reasoning myself, some people are just plain ignorant as to the whys and wherefores of dropping a stinker in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Time to put a business plan together and approach my bank manager.

Could call it the Fart appropriation module.

John thats just the start of it

how about the Tacho restrictions 3.5t needs a tacho

if pulling a trailer

although exemptions are in place ie 50k from normal base of operation

Seems utterly pointless to me

It appears to me the methodoligy is to manage / monitor Drivers hours etc, as a tacho records driver hours & speed , However if yo unhitch the trailer you then dont need the tacho

so you can easily break drivers limits if you wished

yet another example of tinkering about without having a clue !!! costing a fortune without acheiving SOD ALL Typical

Meanwhile !!! back in the real world we have to try to continue to offer a valuable service offering a secure & safe enviroment for our staff & pay a living wage etc etc , I honestly dont know quite where this is going but sooner or later the government is goning to push us over the edge !! financially or socially

something is going to give diesel prices at all time Highs , expenditure & infrastucture costs W@height loler, hse, towing, insurance hikes, min wage, emp pensions, the list goes on & on

if this were France: they'd be in the streets screaming for someones head on a pike.

I need some Coffee now

Right here we go again! I've sat the B+E test being youngish! This isn't a new problem its nearly 11 years old a lot of people just pleaded ignorance a while for many years.

B+E will let the driver drive a vehicle upto 3500kg and a trailer upto 3500kg.

The test is 106 notes and not easy to pass it contains exactly the same manouveres and driving that the C+E test does its just in a smaller rig. When I booked my test I saw very Specific details regarding the vehicle and trailer required for taking the test look at these carefully otherwise it costs big time.

John, I've looked into doing My C1 and thats roughly £1000 before I even look at C1+E as thats another test. hoping my current employer just bites the bullet and put me through C and C+E courses.

Glad I passed my test in 1995! Just looked at my licence, it says I can drive a 7.5 tonner (C1) or a 7.5 tonner and trailer with a combined weight of up to 12 tons (C1+E)!

Am I right in thinking that a newby driver can't even drive a car with a trailer of more than 750kg?

In simple terms yes but if you want to get technical here is the offical blurb

Motor vehicles with a MAM not exceeding 3500kg having not more than eight passenger seats with a trailer up to 750kg. Combinations of towing vehicles in category B and a trailer, where the MAM of the combination does not exceed 3500kg and the MAM of the trailer does not exceed the unladen mass of the towing vehicle
