Hi all just had pay review at work they class arborists as semi skilled craftsman ( along with grass cutters etc) and not skilled, what are your thoughts on this i believe we are skilled.

Tell them to swap for a day and have the grass cutters take the trees down, They might think again then!

 

it takes great skill emptying those grass catcher baskets into a black bin bag mate.....:001_smile:

going through appeals procedure but have be asked to prove where in the definition of arborist the term skilled craftsman comes up

Sounds familiar. When I was an AA Patrol, about 100 of us were told we were classed as "semi-skilled", and for insurance purposes - "professional drivers." You could have heard a pin drop in that room! Bloody insult considering the hoops they make you jump through to get the job.

Not dissing grass cutters at all, Those bin bags can be real fiddly to open, Even as a skilled arborist i once in a blue moon try to open the wrong end, :biggrin:
