basically its to settle a argument a friend of mine is wanting to drive a vimek forwader and harvester that do 25 kph sum 20 miles down to his next site with out having to pay haulage costs (tight arse) he says it will be fine as long as he has flashing lights and i was doubting it

 

Think the limit is irrelevant in your case anyway as long as its road legal its fine I think. IM doing my theorey at the moment and all ive seen so far in the highway code about this is if you drive a slow vehicle then chekc your mirros and pull over every now and then.

the only negative about moving large forestry machinery down the main road at speeds they not designed to do for long periods.. is the wheel hubs tend to overheat and can do damage to the bearings, but i did drive a county 764 with large all round wheels 70 miles home once, flashing lights and following vehicle should do the trick

He needs to keep an eye on the number of cars behind him and keep pulling over to let them pass.

 

I believe you can get done if you have more than 25 cars backed up behind you.

My step dad drives diggers and he moves them by road all the time. last distance was from Dorking to Guildford 13\14 miles i think. He moved it early morning no worries.

Move it in the middle of the night. If spotted by the police, they will think it's being stolen so ignore it!!!!!!!!!!
