How many trailers can you tow?

There is a chap in the village who has a 110 then he tows a ifor 2 ton tipper with a green mech on the back of that , lawful who knows ?

behind agri vehicles you can tow two trailers, the first trailer behind the tractor can be loaded but second one must be empty.

when i go spreading compost i usually have a 13 ton 360 on a chieftan lowloader behind the tractor and on the back of the chieftan a 15ton capactiy bunnings spreader.

Vosa have stopped me numerous times going through the dartford tunnell but that was only to provide an escort due to the length, never questioned us about the 2 trailers etc.

I have just got off the phone to the DVLA and I have been told the following based on B+E entitlement:

"You can tow 2 trailers behind a vehicle as long as the combined weight off the trailers (laden or unladen) does not exceed the weight of the vehicle. The vehicle cannot exceed 3500kg either"

 

There was no mention of any other licences needed!

Off to get a tow hitch put on the back of the trailer!!

What about those road-going trains that you sometimes see near the coast? I swear I've seen one with like 3 carriages on them, all loaded with people. I wonder what licenses they need..

did you do your seperate B+E test then Max? if so how was it

yes mate due to passing my test after 97. was bloody easy really hardest bit was learning to drive properly again mirror signal maneovre etc!

landrover 2t, +trailer 750kgs, +chipper 1100kgs =3850kgs 'Balls'! still can't do it...

my dad told me a tale from his REME days, they were servicing a load of sankey trailers with a guy fetching them in one by one, the guy got fedup and connected about twenty together and drove them all together like a snake.. as he got near the door the staff sargent stopped him and told him off for being a smartass -said if he was so clever he should reverse them through the door, needless to say they all went different directions.. would have loved to have seen that.
