Negative rigging friction location

Friction at the rigging point is an old and tested process. 
It started with wraps around the tree at the rigging point, use of stubs etc.

i have reluctantly used a potty in the tree, both as a rigging point and with a tail hold to prevent swing. Neither were easy or ideal.

the safebloc or simple wraps are the way to go imho and what we use for compromised structures or limited numbers of staff.

The rig n wrench looks to be a good compromise for medium sized stuff, or as I sometimes do, thread the rigging line through the beckett of a pinto

Using a potty in the tree is age related mate.

I thought many years ago, prior to me joining the industry, they used to sell a small portawrap for using up the tree?

Pinto and a rope wrench or an actual rigging wrench do a lot.

A suprising amount of weight is needed for the rope to run.. that would trump a porta wrap in a tree for sizes within its capacity for both Branches and stem.

 

I like it for 2 man lifting jobs to. The wrench can be added to one of the pulleys. Branches lifted up and away by the grounds person then the wraps are taken off and the clumber controls the rope to lower. Seems to work well on pieces around d 100kg or so... maybe more.

 

For a stem though.. I've never thought of a pulley or ring needing much altering beyond what the safe block has done.. that said I've never felt the need for a safe block either.
