The wound has been weeping a lot since the stub was trimmed back, quite wet.

Was that cut recently? Or a previous wound?

The one I mentioned on the first page, originally cut Nov 2023 but last week inspected and trimmed to the banch collar. It was weeping before but the previous rain had washed it off for this pic.

My original cut was not quite to the branch collar but it has been callousing all around hidden under the bark, it was a steeper angle so I trimmed the stub back.

I got a face full of wet vomit-like soft rotting wood chips.

I got a fresh pic today.IMG_20251016_125009.thumb.jpg.7283a2954a4fbb3dd57171706ead7bfb.jpg

This is the bend that I assume snapped when it was young.

Did a reasonable amout this afternoon, not started the back corner yet but happy with the house side.

Right or wrong to do it in the first place, you're making a lovely job of that reduction.

I guess pendula's are relatively east to get a nice shape. Near enough done but I left my anchor up and will bring that middle top down to same as the rest.

It’s very decent work.

in 5 years time you’ll knock that off while the customer boils the kettle instead of whilst peace in the Middle East is negotiated!

Good stuff anyway.

Aye. Good day. Laid Northumbrian style. i.e. Didn’t waste any of the bloke’s stakes and binders. Would have done a cow style had anyone said the field was for cows but whatever. Snapped a pleach I really needed to not but made a reasonable fix. Got all my brash back in and a bit of some other bloke’s. Came second in class. Decent craic. People helpful. Pleasant spot. Good weather. Nice little late lunch at the prizegiving.

Apologies Kram, I couldn't find the hedge laying thread so this'll have to do.

I cycled past these two earlier, lovely bits of work. What style are they anyone? Alex?

I like how you think I might know. I’ve only laid one hedge once. Midland though.

Just thought you'd enjoy some quality craftsmanship.

Yeah, I agree, it looks like Midlands. As it should be. Don't think it'll ever see any livestock, it looked purely decorative, given the setting.
