 Hi everyone,

Rock Machinery have this new splitter that looks like a copy of Eastonmade.  Box wedge seems to be a pretty efficient setup combined with a conveyor belt.

It's not the cheapest and the splitter is not legally road towable.

My questions: how hard would it be to make it road legal? Are there any other brands in UK making something similar?

  Cheers

Peter

Push it onto a flatbed trailer with a loader/digger (take that too). Use the flatbed as an infeed/outfeed table, loaded by the machine. Or leave the splitter up on the flatbed to gain some outfeed height.

Trailers need type approval nowadays or individual vehicle checks and I doubt this one is even CE marked being a chinky knock off. Nothing to stop you getting an iva

Apply for Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) if you’re making or importing a single trailer, or a very small number of trailers.

Do you know why it wouldn't be road legal?

I contacted Rock Machinery and that's what they told me- it has Indespension units but it's not road towable.

Which probably is a hassle if they sell it without approval.

Is it a more substantial axle, tow hitch?

That's Plan B. But it would save extra fuel if I could tow one thing.

Eastonmade would be the choice. But the price...

I don't know but @Justme was the expert on trailers, I don't think he reads this forum now.

@Billhook made his own with videos.

I would like to see one dealing with a big beech or oak fork
